- The Bakersfield Pregnancy Center was founded in 1985. It moved to its current location in 2008. Since its inception, the BPC has served over 30,000 clients and their families with pregnancy-related services.
- Initially, the Center focused on pregnancy tests and providing material assistance to clients. Services have expanded over the years to include post- abortion and post-miscarriage peer counseling programs, abstinence education, and most recently, medical pregnancy verification and first- trimester ultrasound.
- The Center currently serves about 150 in-office clients per month. More are served through school and community educational events.
- The Center is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) charitable corporation, with a California State Primary Care Medical Clinic license. Dr. Philip Davis is the volunteer Medical Director.
- The BPC is funded primarily by private individuals, businesses and local churches. Government funds comprise less than 5 per cent of the operating budget.
- All BPC services are offered free of charge
