about volunteering
THE BAKERSFIELD PREGNANCY CENTER is a Christ–centered
ministry committed to upholding the sanctity of human life, promoting sexual
purity and healthy relationships, providing education and support (physical,
emotional and spiritual) for men and women with pregnancy related concerns,
facilitating healing for those who have experienced abortion or other pregnancy
loss, and proclaiming the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Volunteers serve in virtually every area of the
center, on the "front lines" of client services, as support services
providers and as occasional helpers with special events. Initial
training workshops, on-the-job orientation, and monthly in-service
training meetings are provided to help volunteers develop their gifts
and talents.
The
minimum age for receptionists and No Regrets Student Team members is
18. Counselors and recovery group leaders must be at least
21. Elementary school age children and teens may perform
behind-the-scenes service appropriate to their age and maturity level,
under the supervision of a parent or other adult.
Regular
participation in a local church and willingness to subscribe to the
Center's Commitment of Care and Competence, Statement of Faith and
confidentiality policy are required (read our about us tab). Volunteers are also asked to pledge that they will live a
lifestyle of sexual purity in accordance with biblical principles.
